SpeakKhmer ("we," "us") is a product of Arcline LLC, based in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. We respect your privacy and only collect the minimum data needed to run the Service. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide:
- Account information — email address, password (hashed), preferred language settings
- Billing information — handled securely by Stripe; we never see or store your full card number
- Translations you submit — the text you type into the translator
- Feedback — when you flag a translation with thumbs down, we store the input and translation for review
Information collected automatically:
- Usage data — which features you use, how often, from what device type
- Log data — IP address, browser type, timestamps, error reports
- Cookies — we use essential cookies for authentication and preferences; we do not use advertising cookies
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide and operate the Service — translate text, run the tutor, maintain your account
- To process payments via Stripe
- To improve the Service — flagged translations are reviewed by our native speaker team to improve the glossary
- To communicate with you about your account, subscription, and service updates
- To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or illegal activity
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers necessary to operate SpeakKhmer:
- Stripe — for payment processing. See Stripe's privacy policy.
- Anthropic — for AI-powered translation. Text you submit is sent to Anthropic for processing. Anthropic does not train on this data.
- Supabase — for database and authentication hosting.
- Netlify — for website hosting.
We may also disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Arcline LLC, our users, or the public.
4. Data Retention
We retain your account information as long as your account is active. Translations you submit are processed in real time and not stored long-term unless you flag them for review or save them as favorites. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by emailing hello@speakkhmer.app.
5. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete data
- Delete your personal data
- Export your data in a portable format
- Object to or restrict certain processing

6. Data Security
We use industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption in transit, hashed passwords, and access controls. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
7. Children
SpeakKhmer is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected data from a child, please contact us.
8. International Users
SpeakKhmer is operated from Cambodia. If you use the Service from outside Cambodia, your information may be transferred to, processed, and stored in Cambodia and in the jurisdictions of our service providers.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced in the Service or via email.
